The Importance Of Experiencing Our Cycles
Winter has never been my favourite season. I struggle to stay slow and embrace the darkness. I used to disappear to warmer climates and come back deflated and unable to find my way for a while. I know now that was because I disconnected from the natural flow of my environment. As mammals we are connected to nature intrinsically and when we lose touch with it we lose our focus and grounding.
January has had a busy energy this year. Everyone I speak to has hit the ground running and in creation mode already (me included). This can feel exciting but it’s important to use winter for its true purpose of resting.
I do a lot of work within my coaching on tuning into our own seasons. Each area of our lives has them. Our career may be in summer while our relationship is in winter. This means our focus may be on one but our energy is being drained by another.
We have collectively lost track of what it means to fully experience seasons. When we don’t allow ourselves to retreat and reflect in winter we find ourselves lacking the energy to fulfil our potential when summer comes around again. But if we can pay attention to the signs and strip back or let go when the right time comes we will reap the benefits in the long run.
I’ve had a long winter in my career due to the birth of my daughter 18 months ago taking time for rest and reflection on who I am and how I want to show up in the world. Recently I’ve felt the first buds of spring and found myself swimming with inspiring ideas about what the future holds. Now I need your help to solidify them.
I’ve put together a quick fire survey on what you feel you would most like to see from me and experience for yourself this year. I’m gifting an hour long one on one coaching session with me to one of the participants. Simply fill out the survey and I’ll announce the winner on my instagram in a week or so.
